Magayon Festival Showcase one-stop shop for Students

LEGAZPI CITY--- For the first time, the Commission kon Higher
Education Department in Bicol and the provincial government of
Albay jointly launched a one- stop shop called the School Fair
Magayon Innovation Program to help high school graduates choose
the right courses before they enroll to pursue higher studies in
college.
The one-stop-shop scheme has originally been the trend in m ore
advanced countries for the purpose of providing investors with a
venue for product matching and scouting for qualified manpower
resource which Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda, in cooperation with the
Commission for Higher Education (CHED) regional office headed by
Regional Director Dominador Peralta to suit on high school
graduates need for assistance in choosing courses offered by the
various institutions of higher learning in Bicol.
Albay Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda said high school graduates can go to
the school fair and match courses or canvas tuition fees, file
enrollment forms, take admission exams or get free ID pictures.
At least 27 colleges and universities in Bicol region are
showcasing their course offerings at the school fair site in Albay
Astrodome as the province celebrates its monthlong Magayon
festival.
CHED Bicol identified the colleges or universities with Level 1
and 11 accredited priority programs are COE/COD, STCW compliant
which are participating in school fair.
These are: Aquinas University of Legfazpi, University of Nueva
Caceres (Naga City), University of St. Anthony( Iriga City),
University of Sta. Isabel(Naga City), Ateneo De naga
University(Naga City), Naga College Foundation(Naga City), Bicol
College (Daraga, Albay)Mariner’s Polytechnic College
Foundation(Baras Canaman, Camariones Sur), Mariner’s Polytechnic
College Foundation(Legazpi City), Bicol Merchant Marine
College(Sorsogon City), University of North Eastern
Philioppines(Iriga City), Divine Word College (Legazpi City),St
Louise De Marillac College(Sorsogon City)
Cristy Amo, professor at the Immaculate Coincepcion College in
Daraga, Albay said this one-stop-shop program is the first ever of
its kind wherein prestigious institutions of higher learning
converge under one roof to guide incoming college freshmen
students choose the course that best fit them.
